In todays DIY post Im going to show you how to make a Pink Glitter Tiara out of lace, a sugar starch and glitter. Check out DIY >
I was inspired to make this Pink Glitter Tiara for my daughter’s 4th birthday, shes obsessed with all things princess (and zombies but that will be for another post). This is such a simple project if you have time you could even make one for each of your guests.
What youll need to make your Tiara:
- Lace – measure youre head and cut to size with a little extra to overlap
- 3/4 cup sugar – white granulated
- 1/4 cup water
To make the sugar starch:
Mix the sugar and water in a sauce pan over low heat on the stove, stirring often until the sugar is no longer grainy and the mixture is smooth.
Its important you dont let it boil, you dont want the sugar to brown.
Let it cool a little.
You need to get your lace wet and pat dry, it must be damp before you put it in the sugar mixture.
Place your lace in the sugar mixture and mix it around to make sure it gets completely saturated.
Remove from the mixture and squeeze out any extra.
Smooth out your lace on a paper towel or wax paper.
Sprinkle with glitter
Wrap your lace around a bowl or round object to dry. This will take a couple hours.
When your lace is mostly dry, take it off the bowl and glue the ends together and let completely dry.
Once its completely dry your tiara is ready to be worn!
