Trinkets in Bloom (“TIB”, “we”, “us”) is a creative newsletter and website run by Cathy Villamar, based in New Jersey, USA. This policy explains what personal data we collect when you visit trinketsinbloom.com or join the TIB newsletter, why we collect it, and the choices you have.
If you have any questions, email us at hello@trinketsinbloom.com.
What we collect
When you join the newsletter
We collect your name and email address so we can send you the TIB newsletter. Mailchimp, the service we use to send emails, also records whether you open our emails and click links in them, which helps us understand what you find useful.
When you visit the site
We use two analytics tools to understand how people find and use the site:
- Vercel Web Analytics counts page views and visitors without using cookies and without identifying you. It records things like the page you visited, the site that referred you, your country, and your browser and device type.
- Google Analytics gives us more detailed reports, such as how people move between pages. It only sets cookies if you click “Accept” on our cookie banner. If you decline, Google Analytics doesn’t set cookies on your device.
We don’t use advertising cookies, and we don’t sell your personal data.
Why we use it and our legal basis
Under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we need a legal basis for using your personal data:
- Newsletter: your consent, which you give when you sign up. You can withdraw it at any time by clicking “unsubscribe” at the bottom of any email.
- Google Analytics cookies: your consent, which you give through the cookie banner.
- Vercel Web Analytics: our legitimate interest in understanding how the site is used, in a way that doesn’t identify you.
Who we share it with
We use these service providers to run the site and newsletter. They process data on our behalf, under their own data protection terms:
- Mailchimp (Intuit Inc.) stores newsletter subscribers and sends our emails. Mailchimp’s privacy statement
- Google provides Google Analytics. Google’s privacy policy
- Vercel hosts the website and provides Vercel Web Analytics. Vercel’s privacy policy
These providers are based in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside the EU and UK. They protect these transfers with safeguards recognized under GDPR, such as the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- Newsletter: we keep your name and email until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete them.
- Google Analytics: data linked to cookies is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
- Vercel Web Analytics: doesn’t store data that identifies you.
Cookies
Google Analytics uses cookies whose names start with _ga to recognize returning visitors. They are only set if you accept them, and they expire after up to 2 years. We also remember your cookie choice in your browser’s local storage so we don’t ask you again on every visit.
You can change your choice at any time using the “Cookie settings” link at the bottom of every page. If you change your answer to Decline, we remove the Google Analytics cookies from your browser.
Your rights
If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:
- ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- ask us to correct or delete it
- object to or restrict how we use it
- receive your data in a portable format
- withdraw your consent at any time, without affecting anything we did before you withdrew it
To use any of these rights, email us at hello@trinketsinbloom.com. We’ll respond within one month.
You also have the right to complain to the data protection authority in your country. In the UK, that’s the Information Commissioner’s Office. In the EU, you can find yours on the European Data Protection Board’s website.
Children
The site and newsletter aren’t intended for children under 16, and we don’t knowingly collect their personal data.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top of this page. If the changes are significant, we’ll also let newsletter subscribers know by email.
