\/>\nI used an old jacket I\u2019ve had to get the leather for this mask. Pull them tight and make sure the leather is smooth.<\/p>\n<p>I wrapped all the leather around the mask and glued it on the inside with hot glue.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 13<\/strong><br \/>\nAdd the tack heads along seams like rivets.<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.trinketsinbloom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/STEAMPUNK-MASK-HAT-MASK-SIDE.jpg\" alt=\"Steampunk Mask finished side view\" width=\"850\" height=\"600\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-14569\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.trinketsinbloom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/STEAMPUNK-MASK-HAT-MASK-SIDE.jpg 850w, https:\/\/www.trinketsinbloom.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/10\/STEAMPUNK-MASK-HAT-MASK-SIDE-300x212.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 850px) 100vw, 850px\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>step 14<\/strong><br \/>\nCarefully pop the lenses out of an old or cheap pair of sunglasses.<\/p>\n<p>Glue them to the outside of your pipe fittings.<\/p>\n<p>I turned mine backwards so they would be concave.<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE HAT<\/strong><br \/>\nWhen I made the hat I was rushing it, because we needed it right away. So I apologize for the lack of step photos. However, it\u2019s super simple to cover a felt hat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 1<\/strong><br \/>\nTurn your hat upside down on top of your fabric and trace around the top of the hat.<\/p>\n<p>This made a big oval.<\/p>\n<p>I cut it out and glued it to the top of the hat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 2<\/strong><br \/>\nMeasure the sides of your hat, the height.<\/p>\n<p>Cut a strip that height and long enough to go around your hat with a little to over lap.<\/p>\n<p>Glue it to your hat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 3<\/strong><br \/>\nPlace your hat brim down on your fabric and trace around the brim.<\/p>\n<p>Cut two pieces and cut out the centers. You can measure the top of the hat to get the right size to cut out of the center.<\/p>\n<p>Glue one piece to the top of the brim and one underneath.<\/p>\n<p>The best part about the furry fabric is that it will cover your seams, so they don&#8217;t have to be perfect.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 4<\/strong><br \/>\nCut a long strip of leather, long enough to go around your hat with a little overlap.<\/p>\n<p>Glue it around your hat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 5<\/strong><br \/>\nGlue tack tops along the seam of your leather.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 6<\/strong><br \/>\nGlue your painted hardware around the hat band.<\/p>\n<p><strong>step 7<\/strong><br \/>\nI also stuck 2 feathers in my cap!<img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" mask and hat, but I think the best part was getting to be behind the camera for the photoshoot, for a change! I really love when my husband and I can work together on more artistic projects and we really had fun with this one.
