NEON CORD NECKLACE DIY

Bright neon and a hardware store find combine to make this Neon Cord Necklace DIY so unique.

Neon Cord Necklace DIY

I LOVE making DIYs that I can get at least part of the supplies from a hardware store!

What youll need to make your Neon Cord Necklace:

  1. 10 copper 1/2 inch coupling (copper tubes)
  2. Neon cord – I cut mine 42 inches (107 cm)
  3. Mod Podge
  4. Silver Glitter
  5. Hot glue
  6. Necklace clasp
  7. Bowl
  8. Paint brush

Step 1

In a bowl mix your Mod Podge and glitter.

TIP: Line the bowl you are using with aluminum foil and your mixture wont dry up as quickly. This is helpful since you might need to keep touching up your beads as they dry.

Step 2

Using a brush paint the glitter/mod podge mixture onto the copper tubes and set them in the sun or fresh air to dry (they dry faster this way).
You will probably have to paint several coats, check your tubes as they are drying and do touch ups.

Step 4

Feed each end of your neon cord through a jump ring and fold it over, securing the end of your neon cord to itself with hot glue.

Step 5

Put a small amount of your glitter mod podge mixture over the ends of your neon cord. This will help secure it and make it look nicer.

Wear it!

I love the simplicity of this necklace, but yet it still makes quite a bold statement. Plus I LOVE making DIYs that I can get at least part of the supplies from a hardware store! You can see another hardware store DIY here.

  2. Can you tell me what exactly is MODGE PODGE, we don`t have that brand where I live and i`d like an alternative… Thjanks

  3. I had to laugh because I agree totally with your
80’s neon comment. Some things are hard to embrace when you’ve already done them and laid them to rest. I had the same problem with pencil jeans. I had been so comfortable in my boot cut jeans all these years;)

    Great project!

  4. you’re lovely Cathy. i admire you so much!! tanks a lot!
