MEXICAN VACATION

There’s truly nothing quite like a vacation to get you out of your routine and recharge your energy. Last week my husband, our daughter and I went to Mexico to visit family for a little R & R. Mexico is definitely one of my favorite places. I LOVE the food, the culture, the history, the colors, I could go on for days. We always have such a wonderful time there.

On this visit we traveled to Guadalajara to visit family and friends and then we went to Sayulita, which is a small town about 45 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta along the Pacific coast.

The last time we took our daughter to Guadalajara she was too small to remember, so this time we took her around to some of the historical places in the old downtown area. These photos are of the paintings by José Clemente Orozco in the Hospicio Cabañas. All of the paintings depict scenes from the Mexican Revolution.

On our way to the beach we stopped in the town of Tequila and took a tour through the José Cuervo distillery.
I knew that tequila was made from the agave plant, but I had never seen the whole process.

I’ve been to many beaches in Mexico, from the very touristy like Cancun and Puerta Vallarta to the lesser known like Maruata and I have to say that Sayulita has to be in my top 5 beaches. It’s small enough that you don’t get a ton of tourists but it’s big enough that there are some really great restaurants, fun shops and of course a beautiful beach.

With a hippy surfer vibe, Sayulita is a really relaxing place to visit, I highly recommend it. We rented a condo through Airbnb, it was perfect with a beautiful pool, everything we needed to relax and enjoy this beautiful place.

I’m definitely counting the days until I can return to Mexico and to the beautiful beaches.
I realize that Pablo Neruda is a Chilean poet and not Mexican, however he is still one of my favorite poets and I love this quote and wanted to share it with you.
