step 1
Take your feathers and separate them for each hair pin. My feathers were small so I used about 6 for each pin.

Cut the shaft of each feather leaving at least a half inch to attach to the bobbi pin.

step 2
Group your feathers together and tie them with your thread, wrapping the thread around the shafts of the feathers a few times. How to Make Feather Hair Pins

step 3
Using your glue, place a small amount (about ¾ of an inch or so) on your bobbi pin near the folded closed end and attach your feathers.

Once the glue is starting to hold, using your needle and thread, wrap your thread around both your feathers and one side of your bobbi pin.

This will help to keep your feathers attached.Feather Hair Pins DIY Project

step 4
Using your rhinestones and your Aleenes jewelry & metal glue, place a small amount of your glue on the top of your feathers and attach your rhinestones.

As promised in last Fridays post #1 Make or embellish something with feathers, so now I can cross that off my list. Although I may make another project with them, I just love the way they look.

This is a really simple DIY project. These feather hair pins look really great with a slightly messy up do or even with your hair down.Feather Hair Pins DIY Close Up

As Ive mentioned before, I love using leftover supplies from previous projects to make new ones. You can see these rhinestones in previous DIY projects here and here. If you havent made any of these, now is a great time to make all 3 and know that you wont waste anything!

  2. can I use a glue gun instead of metal glue?

thank you and I love your creativity and ideas :)

    • Thanks cc!
A glue gun would probably work just fine. You just don’t want to use too much glue as a they can get kind of globby.
